The Brief

KitchenAid is a wide-ranging brand with products across the kitchen. KitchenAid Go shows how they can rethink their language by leaning into portability and cordless convenience.

What’s missing is a true premium line that pushes KitchenAid into a more tech-forward space and does something they’ve never done before.

I want to design a KitchenAid-branded Immersion Blender that brings this vision to life.

Immersion Blenders: Current Drawbacks

Conservative Design

Most immersion blenders share the same purely functional design. They work well, but the market is crowded with near-identical products.

Single Speed Operation

Most immersion blenders stick to single-speed operation. They work, but this limits control, making it harder to handle delicate ingredients.

Technological Edge

Most immersion blenders lack modern consumer tech features, offering little beyond basic functionality.

The KitchenAid Brand

KitchenAid’s design language is iconic, timeless, recognizable, and rooted in durability. But there’s room to evolve. Just as KitchenAid Go expanded the brand into cordless convenience, the same design DNA could extend into new, tech-focused territories that bring KitchenAid into the future.

Brand & Product Philosophy

KitchenAid’s legacy of bold, iconic design now opens the door to new forms, new tech, and a new era of ease.”

Form & Finish Studies

These forms are clean, with simple, human-focused shapes, while the finish is smooth, with intact textures and semi-gloss handles.

Initial Ideation

Round One

This phase focused on exploring overall form and design language, which served as an analysis of what forms worked with the KitchenAid design identity.

Final Ideation

Round Two

This phase focused on finalizing the concept while briefly exploring hand sizes, circumference, and ergonomics, aiming to define the product’s final dimensions.

The Final Model.

This model was created to finalize the overall form and was made out of 20-pound foam, sanded with 400 & 600 grit sandpaper, and finalized with Tamiya primer.

Key Takeaways.

The KitchenAid+ project focused on balancing form and function while integrating an established brand to maintain credibility. The primary challenge was working within a brand known for continuity and limited visual change.

Rather than redesigning KitchenAid’s existing design language, the project explores how the brand could extend into a new era of technology. The design introduces new features and a distinct form that signal forward progress, while still maintaining a clear connection to the brand’s core identity.
